Our favourite unique & quirky wedding venues

Updated: Aug 31, 2019

While we love a romantic wine farm wedding, a beautiful beach ceremony and an ethereal forest setting, there’s just something about these totally unique wedding venues that have a jje ne sais quoi! Perfect for those looking for something a little off-beat or a little out of the ordinary to make your wedding day truly unique and completely unforgettable.

Here are our favourite unique and unusual wedding venues in the Cape Town area and Western Cape.

1. Old Mac Daddy

Location: Elgin

Why we love it: Old Mac Daddy is one of our favourite unique wedding venues in South Africa! It’s quirky, fun and simple with natural surrounding beauty. The A-frame Barn venue is a magnificent indoor-outdoor space for your wedding reception or party. You and your guests will fall in love with the vintage airstream themed trailers!

2. Bosjes

Location: Stellenbosch

Why we love it: The incredibly bold and strikingly modern chapel with curved roof and glass walls, surrounded by nature and beautiful views.

Visit the Bosjes website.

3. The One Heaven and Earth

Location: Hemel and Aarde Valley

Why we love it: A modern-classical Glass House as the wedding reception area with industrial twists where old shipping containers have been recycled for bathrooms, kitchen and bar. A beautiful rustic courtyard to sit around pit fires and fairylights with guests.

4. Lichtenstein Castle

Location: Hout Bay

Why we love it: Perched upon the Karbonkelberg Mountain overlooking the Hout Bay Harbour, this castle was built as a replica of the Gothic Schloss Lichtenstein castle in Southern Germany. You can rent the castle as your own private villa complete with a honeymoon suite, to live out your medieval fantasies with your wedding guests and family.

5. Emily Moon River Lodge

Location: Garden Route

Why we love it: A drop-dead-gorgeous wedding venue in the Garden Route, unlike anything you have experienced before. Situated in the Bitou wetlands, with never-ending views of a winding river and far distant mountains.
